It's that time of year again. The daffodils are sprouting, evenings are getting lighter and the air is getting ever so slightly warmer. It's also the time of year when the annual 'Spring Clean' takes place; the hoards of things we bought to keep ourselves entertained throughout the winter get repurposed, or recycled, to make some space and simplify our lives.
Spring is also the time of year for fresh starts and new beginnings.
Research has shown that people most often take up new hobbies in Spring, inspired by brighter days and the increase in colour in our gardens and parks.
'So what hobby should I take up?' You might be thinking. Well, we might be biased but singing and dancing has been proven to make people happier by releasing endorphins, and not only that but joining a local singing group or choir can help battle loneliness, create connections and friendships, and improve mental health and wellbeing.
So if you are considering taking up a hobby, now that it seems we have more time in the days, no matter your age, ability, or gender, you are likely to find a singing group near you with likeminded people.
